The Balanced Mother
A six-month journey to proactively manage your health and well-being, rediscover your sense of self, and find true joy in early motherhood.
My passion for holistic health began over eight years ago, when I navigated and successfully treated gut dysbiosis and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis with a functional medicine team.
But it wasn't until I faced gestational diabetes and the immense physical and emotional challenges of my postpartum recovery that I truly understood the need for health coaching for new and expectant mothers.
This is why I created The Balanced Mother.
I understand what you’re going through, because I’ve been there.
But with the right support, so much more is possible for you.
The Consistent Care You Deserve
Through my own journey, I recognized a significant gap in support for new mothers.
Many face fragmented care, limited time with providers, and the challenge of piecing together supplemental visits from a long list of specialists, many of whom aren’t covered by insurance—lactation consultants, feeding specialists, pelvic floor PTs, acupuncturists, endocrinologists, dietitians, and more.
While these experts are vital, their support is typically limited to specific stages or health challenges for mom or baby, sometimes with weeks-long waits between appointments, even for urgent referrals.
The Balanced Mother was created to offer the continuity of care that’s often missing from the traditional medical framework—not to replace your medical team, but to connect the dots and hold the continuity they can’t.
Someone who sees your whole picture.
Someone who walks with you through the in-between.
Someone who stays with you as everything else shifts.
The health of the mother is the foundation for the health of our entire society.
When a mother's cup is full—when she is healthy and balanced—families and children thrive.
The Balanced Mother directly supports the woman at the heart of the family, fostering a ripple effect that benefits everyone.
The Details
The Balanced Mother is a six-month, 1:1 health coaching program built on three core pillars:
Integrative Health Management
Family Planning & Career Transition
Sustained Well-Being & Identity Reclamation
These pillars work together to address the complete preparation and transformation you’ll experience as a new mother.
This timeline allows for support that best serves a mother’s needs:
Starting during pregnancy, ideally after the 20-week mark, to focus on a healthy second half of pregnancy and prepare for the early postpartum adjustment.
Starting at any point during the first year postpartum, to address new or lingering health challenges and struggles with identity, purpose, and balance.
I will be your consistent presence—the single advocate who understands your entire journey, guiding you to the comprehensive, targeted support you deserve.
Pillars
-
Assessing your personalized needs: We'll begin with a deep dive into your life, celebrating your wins and identifying specific health challenges and imbalances—areas where you need the most targeted support. This forms your initial roadmap, flexible enough to adapt as your needs evolve.
Simplifying nutrition and supplementation: We'll craft personalized, manageable plans that reduce anxiety and overwhelm around food and supplement choices, with recommendations you can confidently discuss with your care team.
Tuning into your body's wisdom: Symptoms are your body's language. I will guide you to listen, understand, and seek appropriate medical care.
Preparing for medical appointments: I will empower you to become a proactive partner in your care. We'll strategize the right questions to ask and prepare you to advocate for your needs with confidence, ensuring you always feel heard.
Optimizing blood sugar:
Pregnancy: Managing blood sugar is uniquely critical during pregnancy, and because Gestational Diabetes (GD) exists on a spectrum, it isn't one-size-fits-all. I'll help you prepare for your GD screening and, if relevant, the three-hour glucose tolerance test, providing a nuanced interpretation of your results. I will also guide you in using continuous glucose monitors and interpreting your unique data, with tailored strategies to optimize your glucose levels.
Postpartum: My support extends beyond pregnancy to help you stabilize your glucose levels for long-term health. Because up to 50% of mothers with GD go on to develop prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes within 5-10 years, this ongoing guidance is a critical part of your journey. As a runner and fitness enthusiast with personal experience managing GD, I bring a nuanced understanding and profound empathy to women navigating blood sugar issues.
Navigating thyroid conditions: With deep insight from my own journey managing Hashimoto’s, I'll support you in every aspect of your thyroid health. We’ll strategize next steps for testing if you suspect a thyroid issue, and for those with a confirmed diagnosis, we’ll focus on lifestyle management and advocacy with your care team. This ensures you receive the adequate treatment needed to maintain healthy thyroid hormone levels—critical for a healthy pregnancy and sufficient milk supply.
Improving gut health: If you're struggling with gut issues, whether they're new or exacerbated by the hormonal and physical shifts of pregnancy, you are not alone. Having personally navigated SIBO and postpartum intestinal inflammation, I bring insight and empathy to this common struggle. I'll guide you in safely managing digestive discomfort and exploring natural strategies to complement your practitioner-recommended treatments.
-
Preparing your home for the baby’s arrival: For the overwhelmed or time-constrained expectant mother, I provide practical strategies to help you prepare for the baby's arrival, including curated resource and gear recommendations. This is where my love of research and planning, coupled with my artistic sensibilities, truly shines. I have a unique talent for sifting through what’s out there to spot what's tasteful—and actually impactful! My goal is to eliminate this source of stress so you can focus your energy on what truly matters: your health and well-being.
Planning your parental leave and return: Navigate the complexities of stepping away from work, "baby-proofing" your operations, and developing a flexible return-to-work plan. This support accounts for the realities of life with a newborn and potential health challenges, ensuring a manageable transition for your entire family. We'll create a robust plan, a back-up plan, and a back-up plan for your back-up plan. As a freelancer who has both taken and provided parental leave coverage, I bring personal insight to this often ambiguous process. My goal is to help you create a plan you can confidently own, so you can step away—and step back in—on your own terms.

While so much attention during pregnancy is placed on the health of your body and the logistics of preparing for the baby’s arrival, true well-being is multifaceted, extending beyond physical health. The shift into motherhood is a profound and beautiful transformation, but it can also leave you feeling lost and disconnected from yourself. Using the same insight and precision I used to support you during pregnancy, I will empower you to embrace your evolving identity and find true joy in early motherhood, stepping into this new season with greater confidence and vitality.
Navigating postpartum adjustment & recovery: I'll be your consistent lifeline, guiding you through the unique demands of the postpartum period. This continuity of support ensures you can effectively care for your newborn while safeguarding your personal health and well-being. I will also be a listening ear and a source of guidance as you navigate common challenges such as breastfeeding discomfort, sleep deprivation, and pelvic floor dysfunction. To ensure you receive the most comprehensive care possible, I will proactively recommend specialists, support groups, and other resources. Coffee chats, gentle walks, and home visits are available to clients in the Boulder-Denver area.
Stepping into the new you: I’ll guide you in navigating the profound identity shift of motherhood, helping you confidently embrace a new, empowered version of yourself. We'll explore fresh ways to nourish and move your body, build supportive community connections, and redefine what success, purpose, and balance look like in this new season. A core part of this work is identifying your values—the true anchors of your life. This clarity will make it easier to know when to say "yes" and when to say "no," ensuring you're prioritizing what truly lights you up.

FAQs

Healing doesn’t stop. It’s a dynamic process, not a static outcome, and achieving meaningful, lasting transformation takes time. That’s why this program is designed as a six-month journey. This timeframe allows for a thorough assessment of your unique needs, the implementation of effective strategies, and the flexibility to make necessary adjustments along the way. It's during this longer engagement that we can truly address the evolving demands of motherhood, which requires continuous pivots and support.
-
Yes! Once the initial six-month contract ends, there's an opportunity to work together for an additional three or six months, depending on the support you need.
-
The best time to begin is unique to you, as every pregnancy and mother’s needs are different. Generally, it’s recommended to start after your 20-week anatomy ultrasound. This milestone often brings greater clarity and peace of mind, allowing us to begin our six-month journey with a solid foundation and a clear focus on the remainder of your pregnancy.
-
Absolutely not! In fact, many health challenges—including struggles with identity and balance—often emerge or intensify after the fourth trimester, precisely when comprehensive support can be hardest to find. This is a time when lingering health challenges demand further attention and adaptation. There's also a societal expectation for new mothers to seamlessly juggle a career, a new baby, and household management, all while making it look effortless. Mothers disproportionately carry the mental load and domestic responsibilities, making ongoing support crucial.

My health coaching services complement, but do not replace, professional medical care. Always consult your healthcare providers for medical advice, diagnoses, and treatment.
My role is to guide you toward your wellness goals during pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood, helping you look at the bigger picture of your health. While your medical providers focus on clinical care, I help you translate their advice into actionable daily habits.

While I primarily support individuals who identify as women and mothers, I recognize that the journey of birthing and parenting encompasses diverse identities. My specific lived experience as a cisgender, straight woman uniquely prepares me to serve this demographic. If your identity or family structure differs, please don't hesitate to reach out. I would be honored to recommend providers who offer culturally competent care tailored to your unique needs.
